Since the inception in 2016 as the fourth teaching hospital in the country, SASMEC @IIUM has grown vastly in providing health care service and education to the students of IIUM as well as the community.
SASMEC @IIUM is now approaching full capacity of its operation with the increasing number of patients day by day.
In support of the expanding services, the Management feels the need for the support services such as linen management and scheduled waste management to be properly monitored and executed.
Following that, The Department of Support Services was established in February 2023 in favour of the needs to provide comprehensive monitoring of linen and waste management of SASMEC @IIUM
In line with the SASMEC@IIUM vision and mission in promoting excellence services to the clients, Department focuses on the innovative initiatives and continuous efforts to upbringing the quality of support services to the main operation.
The department is also entrusted to improvise the image of SASMEC @IIUM with beautification projects aside from the monitoring of cleanliness inside and outside of the building.
To be among the most effective departments in delivering service to the SASMEC @IIUM and providing continuous support to ensure the quality of operations are at the best level.
- To be knowledgeable and competent in its field
- To implement good practices in ensuring the continuity of the improvement
- To maximize resources value in achieving zero interruption and errors
- To coordinate with the clinical line-up in managing the clinical waste management services provided by vendor.
- To ensure the compliance of contract agreement by the vendor
- To carry out the joint-inspection with the relevant authorities frequently
- To analyse and evaluate the performance of the appointed vendor
- To prepare performance reports to the top management
- To provide necessary training for clinical line up on the clinical waste management.
- To drive proactive quality practice and activities on the clinical waste handling related matters.
- To coordinate with the clinical line-up on the linen supply
- To ensure the compliance of contract agreement by the vendor
- To carry out scheduled inspection on the operation of linen supply
- To provide performance report of the vendor to the top management
- To monitor the beautification of the building (indoor and outdoor)
- To conduct joint inspection with other departments in cleanliness and facilities condition
- To provide beautification plan for landscape and indoor facilities.
- To engage in beautification projects in enhancing the look and value of the property.
- To lodge immediate report/complaint to the respective departments for any potential hazardous / faulty / damage properties.
- To ensure the availability of the stock
- To monitor the utilisation of daily stock
- To renew / appoint new vendor to supply the medical gas stock
