Department of Obstetric & Gynaecology
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre @IIUM(SASMEC@IIUM) is dedicated to provide the best comprehensive service to meet the health needs of women of all age from puberty. On top of managing general gynaecology and general obstetrics cases in both outpatient and inpatient settings, we also provide subspecialty services including urogynaecology, gynaecological oncology, feto-maternal medicine and fertility medicine. Where required, care is provided through a multidisciplinary team and collaboration with other relevant departments in hospital as well as via networking with other departments and organizations outside the hospital.
We are enthusiastic to provide the best evidence-based care alongside upholding the principal of mother-friendly care and baby-friendly policy. At present, we are striving to be accredited as one of the baby-friendly hospitals within Malaysia. As part of baby-friendly hospital initiative, we have set-up breastfeeding room facility across the hospitals. We are also aiming to open our own human milk centre, Halimatussaadia Mother’s Milk Centre (HMMC) in 2021 as we have received permission by Majlis Fatwa Negeri Pahang in November 2020. We also support husband-friendly policy.
In all setting, we are continuously striving to ensure our care is in-line with our organizational sharia-compliant policy.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology aspire to be one-stop center of excellence in providing care and treatment within the women's health setting alongside nurturing the culture of life-long learning among our staffs through continued teachings, trainings and researches.
